Originally painted at some point between 1907-1908, Klimt produced this oil-on-canvas painting during the height of what scholars call his ‘Golden Period’. Klimt also added gold leaf, silver and platinum to his painting. Gustav Klimt was an Austrian Symbolist painter and a prominent member of the Vienna Art Nouveau (Vienna Secession) movement. His most famous works include paintings, murals, sketches, and other art objects, many of which you can find on display in the Vienna Secession gallery.
